North London giants Tottenham Hotspur will rival Merseyside club Everton for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick who was sensational for the Czech Republic at Euro 2020. Everton were the first club linked with the former AS Roma attacker before they were joined by Spurs.
Schick, 25, was the main man for the Czech Republic whose Euro 2020 tournament ended at the weekend following the defeat to Denmark. He scored as Czech Republic lost 2-1 to the Danes in the quarterfinals. The goal against Denmark took his tally to five goals at the tournament thereby drawing him level with Portuguese international skipper Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the scorers chart for the tournament. He averaged a goal in every game for the Czech Republic at the Euro 2020 tournament. Schick scored in all the Czech Republic games except against England in their final game in Group D.
The quality of Schick has come to the notice of several European teams after his impressive showing at the Euro 2020 tournament. Everton and Spurs are two of many clubs with an interest in the Czech Republic hitman. He scored 13 goals in the German Bundesliga in the colours of Bayer Leverkusenlast season.
New Everton boss Rafael Benitez has targeted Schick in the event that Arsenal and Manchester United target Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves the club this summer. For Tottenham Hotspur, Schick has been targeted by the North Londoners and it remains to be seen if the Czech Republic player would be signed as a replacement for star man Harry Kane or alongside the England international captain who is a target for Premier League champions Manchester City.
